10 bids submitted for the roof restoration of Hotel Triumf in Bucharest

Ten bids have been submitted for the repair works at Hotel Triumf in Sector 1 of the capital, a contract estimated at 2.94 million RON, excluding VAT, for a duration of five months.

The companies that submitted bids are Crinelco Matcon, Rotary Constructii Mentenanta, Viosil Instal Construct, OVI Construction&Real Estate, D.R. Solutions Concept and the associations formed by Baiculescu Construct (leader) and Turvyk Investment Group, Act Construct Management (leader) and Acriem Product, Draft Construct (leader) and Constructim, RO-ING Profinstal (leader) and Gruppo GE.DI (Italy), and BAU Klincher Art (leader), Safe Construct and Maruani Com, respectively.

The acquisition aims to carry out roof repair works on all three sections. Adjacent elements that are an integral part of the roofing will also be restored, namely the fascia, soffit, gutters, downspouts, exposed brick cornice, etc. The shape of the roof and the type of material from which the roofing is made will not be changed. To avoid the formation of ice plugs that would damage the gutters and downspouts, they will be equipped with a de-icing system. Only first-quality materials will be used in the execution, compatible with the original materials of the construction and which do not influence the vapor permeability of the original structures, according to the tender specifications.

The roof and part of the attic of the Hotel Triumf building were affected by the fire that broke out on September 12, 2020.

Hotel Triumf, managed by the Autonomous Administration of State Protocol Heritage, is included on the list of historical monuments, having been built in the interwar period by Petre Antonescu, the architect who also designed the Arch of Triumph.

The property was put up for sale for the first time in 2007, at a starting price of 32.5 million EUR plus VAT, but the auction was halted in court after the company Athenee Phenix Group challenged the procedure. In October 2014, the Government put the hotel up for auction again and offered it for sale several times, without receiving any bids, even though the price decreased over time from 19.6 million EUR to 15.9 million EUR and, subsequently, to 14.1 million EUR, all plus VAT.
