Low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced that it will introduce an allocated seating system starting May 4, 2015, on several selected routes, followed by the introduction of this service across the entire network from May 19.
Customers will have access to a free automatic allocation system, which will be integrated into the booking process starting April 8.
Wizz Air will allocate adjacent seats to passengers traveling together on the same booking, where possible. Customers will be able to change their allocated seat for another seat for a fee starting from 1 EUR. The change can be made on wizzair.com or through the Wizz smartphone app up to 3 hours before the aircraft’s departure.
Preferred seats, such as those in the first row for quick disembarkation or seats with extra legroom, can be reserved for a higher fee, subject to availability and on a first-come, first-served basis.
Customers who booked tickets before April 8 for flights with allocated seating will be assigned seats at check-in, while passengers with bookings that include Wizz Xtra legroom and Wizz Reserved Seat will be able to choose their seats at no additional cost.
Wizz Premium and Wizz Privilege Pass members will be able to choose any seat for free and will continue to benefit from Priority Boarding. Starting April 8, the company is reducing the Priority Boarding service fee to 2 EUR.
