Wizz Air: 23% Increase in Passengers Transported in Romania in 2016

Low-cost airline Wizz Air transported over 5.5 million passengers on its Romanian routes in 2016, a 23% increase compared to the previous year, the company announced.

Last year, Wizz Air opened two new bases in Iasi and Sibiu. Additionally, the company added new flights from the airports in Satu Mare and Suceava, reaching a network of ten airports in Romania.

For this year, the operator has already announced the addition of new aircraft to the bases in Cluj-Napoca and Craiova, as well as the initiation of 15 new routes to nine countries from Romania.

Currently, Wizz Air’s flight network in Romania consists of 133 routes, including a domestic flight between Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.

Overall, the company transported 23 million passengers last year and operates with a fleet composed of 74 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. Wizz Air offers more than 500 routes from 27 bases, providing connections between 134 destinations in 40 countries.
