According to an analysis conducted by Vola.ro, this summer most Romanians who chose to go on vacation abroad opted for stays in Greece or Tenerife.
The preferred destinations for city breaks remained major European cities, including Paris, Barcelona, and Venice. The average price for a city break was 250 EUR/person, with 3 nights of accommodation and air transport included.
Romanian tourists paid an average of 550 EUR/person for a 7-day stay outside the country, with transport and accommodation included. 
27% of Vola.ro tourists opted for vacations abroad of at least 7 days, while 73% chose city breaks.
The most popular city break destination in 2016 was Rome, followed by Barcelona, Venice, Dubai, and Paris. Regarding stays, the main options for Romanians included destinations in the Greek islands and Spain, namely Crete, Zakynthos, Santorini, Tenerife, and Corfu.
On average, Romanian tourists booked their vacations approximately one and a half months in advance for stays, and two and a half months in advance for city breaks. However, many tourists made reservations even as late as 3 weeks before the departure date.
