Unlicensed Online Travel Agencies and Unclassified Accommodation Sites to be Suspended

The websites of online travel agencies that are not licensed and those that offer unclassified accommodation units for sale will be suspended, announced the Minister of Tourism, Mircea Titus Dobre.
Additionally, Dobre stated that the Law on guaranteeing tourist packages must be finalized by the end of the year, as Romania is currently in a pre-infringement status.
“We have a very advanced discussion with the National Authority for Consumer Protection so that I want to announce to all those who own websites and offer unclassified accommodation units for sale that we will suspend their websites. ANPC has the right to suspend the website. The same will apply to online agencies, because there are ‘apartment agencies’ that operate online and must be licensed. If they are not licensed, their website will be suspended. Therefore, everyone should come and get licensed, get their accreditations, to avoid discussions about tax fraud," the minister declared during a TV show.
