The data released by the INS in the field of tourism for the first 9 months of 2024 reveal an increase of 4.2% compared to the previous year, in terms of arrivals registered in tourist structures. The arrivals registered in tourist accommodation structures (including apartments and rooms for rent), in the period 01.01.-30.09.2024, amounted to 11153,2 thousand persons, up by 4,2% compared to the same period of 2023. Out of the total number of arrivals, in the period 01.01.- 30.09.2024, the arrivals of Romanian tourists in tourist accommodation structures with accommodation functions accounted for 83.5%, while the arrivals of foreign tourists accounted for 16.5%. The overnight stays registered in tourist accommodation structures (including apartments and rooms for rent), in the period 01.01.- 30.09.2024 amounted to 24099.7 thousand, up by 3.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. Of the total number of overnight stays, in the period 01.01.- 30.09.2024, the overnight stays of Romanian tourists in tourist accommodation structures with accommodation functions accounted for 84.3%, while the overnight stays of foreign tourists accounted for 15.7%. The average length of stay in the period 01.01.-30.09.2024 was 2.2 days for Romanian tourists and 2.1 days for foreign tourists. The index of net utilization of tourist accommodation in the period 01.01.-30.09.2024 was 31.8% on total tourist accommodation structures (including apartments and rooms for rent), up by 0.2 percentage points compared to the period 01.01.-30.09.2023. By county, in the period 01.01.-30.09.2024, the number of tourist arrivals in tourist accommodation establishments with accommodation functions (including apartments and rooms for rent) recorded higher values in: Constanța (1690,0 thousand persons), Bucharest Municipality (1470,7 thousand persons) and Brasov (1123,7 thousand persons) and the number of overnight stays of tourists in tourist accommodation facilities with accommodation functions (including apartments and rooms for rent), recorded higher values in: Constanța (5384,3 thousand persons), Bucharest Municipality (2900,8 thousand persons) and Brasov (2127,8 thousand persons). By country, the highest number of arrivals of foreign tourists staying in tourist accommodation facilities with accommodation functions (including apartments and rooms for rent), in the period 01.01.- 30.09.2024, came from: Germany (193,0 thousand persons), Italy (156,9 thousand persons) and Israel (120,9 thousand persons). The arrivals of foreign visitors in Romania, registered at border crossings, amounted to 10533,4 thousand persons in the period 01.01.-30.09.2024. Road means of transportation were the most used by foreign visitors (81.4% of total arrivals in the period). The departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at the border crossings, in the period 01.01.-30.09.2024 amounted to 12770,2 thousand persons, 72,8% of them using road transportation and 26,4% using air transportation.
