The Pavăl brothers, the owners of Dedeman, have set a date for the reopening of one of Switzerland’s biggest hotel complexes

Brothers Dragos and Adrian Pavăl, the owners of Dedeman, have set their sights on reopening the 5-star Waldhaus Flims Wellness Resort, a nearly 150-year-old establishment in the Swiss town of Flims, which they took over in the fall together with Lithuanian hotel operator Apex Alliance Hotel Management, in the winter season of 2025, until then undergoing a renovation process. The Waldhaus Flims Wellness Resort was previously owned by US investment company Z Capital Partners, which bought it in December 2015 and closed it in the summer of 2023 for financial reasons attributed mainly to rising energy costs. With this acquisition, Pavăl Holding, the group of the Pavăl brothers from Bacau, signed its second investment on the international market, following the purchase of the historic Grand Hotel Gardone in Italy in 2023. At the same time, Apex Alliance is expanding its portfolio to 17 hotels in Europe, including five in Bucharest. The new owners of Waldhaus Flims are committed to preserving and enhancing the uniqueness of the complex, including its historic buildings and interior design. The Waldhaus Flims Wellness Resort was built in 1877 and was completely renovated in the fall of 2016. The resort is located in the largest hotel park in Switzerland and offers a wellness oasis, 6 restaurants and bars. The hotel complex consists of 4 interconnecting buildings that preserve the grandeur of the Belle Époque period, the Waldhaus has almost 150 rooms. The Waldhaus is one of the largest hotels and spas in Switzerland, located in the Flims/Laax mountains at 1,100 meters above sea level.
