The new airport to be built in Bucharest will be named Constantin Brâncuși
The Romanian company South Development Group (SDG) announced the signing of an agreement with Trillium Fund for the development of the Constantin Brâncuși airport, which will be built in the south of the Capital.
The agreement was recently signed with the Trillium fund, a fund that includes the companies Surbana Jurong Capital (Singapore), Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan), and Changi Airport International (Singapore).
In the same announcement, South Development Group states that the new airport, which will be located in the south of Bucharest, is expected to open in 2024 for flights and cargo operations. Shortly after, it will also be opened for passenger traffic.
The project for the new airport was announced as early as 2018.
It is estimated that over 35 million passengers will be able to pass through Constantin Brâncuși Airport annually. It will have a main runway of 4,000 m and a secondary one of 2,500 m, with the possibility of being extended.
