Romania’s tourism potential was praised in an article published on September 9 on The Huffington Post website, stating that our country could be considered „the most beautiful in Europe”.
The author of the article, Patti Morrow, a blogger, photographer, and travel journalist, declared herself impressed by, among others, the Transfăgărășan, the cosmopolitan architecture of Bucharest, the fortified churches of Transylvania, and the Bran and Peleș castles.
In this article, titled „Is Romania Europe`s Prettiest Country? It Just Might Be”, Patti Morrow praised several of Romania’s tourist attractions: „charming town squares dating from medieval times, rolling hills stretching as far as the eye can see, castles shrouded in the mystery of Count Dracula, wonderful views of rocky mountain peaks, and a seemingly infinite network of fortresses and churches”.
"And let’s not forget the Transfăgărășan – undoubtedly the most spectacular road in the world. Romania’s natural beauty and cultural diversity might surprise you. Bordered by the Black Sea in Southeast Europe, the country’s attractions include the Danube River and the Carpathian Mountains," she added.
Patti Morrow grouped Romania’s tourist attractions into three main categories: „Cities, Citadels, and Villages", "Castles, Fortresses, and Fortified Churches", and "Other Attractions".
Following her visit to Romania, Patti Morrow says that our country – and Transylvania in particular – is home to „some of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe”.
However, the journalist first visited Bucharest and declared herself impressed by the Palace of the Parliament, the labyrinth of cobblestone streets, and the unique architecture of the old city center, formerly known as „Little Paris”. She also appreciated the antique shops, cafes, and art galleries in Bucharest.
The American journalist was impressed by the Transfăgărășan, dubbed "the best road in the world" by the producers of the "Top Gear" show, as well as the breathtaking landscape of the Carpathian Mountains, enhanced by wonderful views of the Vidraru Dam, the Bâlea glacial lake, and numerous natural waterfalls.
