Bethlen Estates Transylvania is the first Romanian property included in the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection.
This recognition comes as a confirmation of the Bethlen family’s efforts to keep the historic character of the estate alive and to offer a different kind of luxury, one that means time (slow living), taste (fine dining), balance (sustainability) and a real connection with traditions.
Designed to offer an experience as close to the authentic spirit of Transylvania as possible, the story of the estate dates back to 1305.
The restoration was carried out by local craftsmen, every detail, from the hand-painted ceramic tiles to the wooden beams, was carefully chosen to honor the cultural identity of the place and to provide guests with the comfort they seek in such escapes into nature.
Beyond promoting its architectural and cultural heritage, Bethlen Estates Transylvania was also conceived as a unique gastronomic experience, combining the concept of fine dining with Transylvanian cuisine, a fusion type of restaurant with local flavors and international techniques.
Guests can savor dishes such as freshly harvested wild wild herbs cooked in a paprika sauce or an innovative dessert created with orchard fruits. The menu was created by Chef Róbert Tordai, who has mastered French and Japanese cuisine.
Bethlen Estates Transylvania has already attracted international attention, having been featured in leading publications such as Vogue, The Times, Elle, Travel + Leisure and House & Garden. For reservations and details, visit bethlenestates.com.
