The access bridge to the Bigăr waterfall has been rebuilt

The employees of the Cheile Nerei – Beusnița National Park have completed the reconstruction of the access bridge to the Bigăr Waterfall, offering tourists the possibility to visit this spectacular place safely.

Bigăr Waterfall, considered by The World Geography website as the most beautiful waterfall in the world, has been a magnet for nature lovers from Romania and abroad for years. Even after the collapse of the calcareous tufa formation known as the “mushroom”, Bigăr retains its unique beauty and charm.

The waterfall is located in the county of Caras-Severin, in south-western Romania, in the heart of the Cheile Nerei – Beusnița National Park, a protected natural area with landscapes of rare spectacular beauty. The park is one of the 22 national and nature parks administered by Romsilva and covers an area of 37,100 ha, of which almost 30,000 ha are covered with forests. Around 14,500 ha are strictly protected areas, where nature evolves without human intervention. The limestone boulder that was nearly 4 m high and several tons in weight broke loose and fell in the summer of 2021.
