The national airline Tarom is launching a new service for passengers: Airfi. Thus, passengers will have access to an online platform where they can shop, access movies, and read a series of magazines.
The operator will install a device on board the aircraft with a 14-hour autonomy, which offers passengers access to an intranet platform where movies, music, games, newspapers, and magazines are stored. Additionally, passengers can communicate through a chat service during the flight by selecting the passenger’s name and seat number in the plane.
The service does not offer the possibility of real-time connection to applications such as Facebook or YouTube.
The service will be available on flights to Madrid, Barcelona, and Dubai, the company’s longest routes, starting in mid-August, after which it will be extended to all aircraft in the Tarom fleet.
Tarom is the first company in the Skyteam alliance, which includes companies such as Delta Airlines, Aeroflot, Alitalia, KLM, or China Airlines, to offer this service.
