Work on the Swissôtel Bucharest hotel project, located on Expoziției Boulevard, has resumed, with the new completion and opening date set for 2027. Standing at approximately 85 meters tall with 27 floors, the building will become the tallest accommodation facility in Romania, consolidating the presence of the premium brand from the Accor group’s portfolio in the capital’s market.
Officially launched in 2018 with an initial version of 225 rooms and an estimated completion date for 2021, the project was stalled due to the pandemic. Development was later resumed with a new structure, additional financing, and an updated configuration of 199 rooms and suites. Located near Romexpo and approximately 10 minutes from the ‘Henri Coandă’ International Airport, the hotel will have a total built area of around 30,000 square meters.
The new property will include two restaurants, one of which is a rooftop restaurant with panoramic views, bars, lounges, a swimming pool located on the 22nd floor, spa & fitness facilities, as well as an area dedicated to business meetings and corporate events. This is the second project under the Swissôtel brand announced in Romania, following the one in Poiana Brașov. Swissôtel is part of the Accor group, a global operator present in 110 countries, owning 36 brands and a portfolio of 5,100 hotels with over 704,000 rooms.
