Suceava Airport reports traffic growth in 2025 and launches tender for a new 11,000 square meter terminal

Stefan cel Mare International Airport Suceava reported a positive evolution of traffic indicators for the year 2025, reaching a total of 769,608 passengers, in the context of the strengthening of the partnership with the airline operator Wizz Air and the start of major infrastructure projects. Against the background of this operational growth and the reopening of the air base, Suceava County Council announced the launch of the tender procedure for the construction of a new terminal, aimed at tripling the current processing capacity.

According to official data, passenger traffic registered an increase of 3.06% compared to the previous year, while the number of aircraft movements reached 7,070, marking an advance of 2.37% compared to 2024. Low-cost operator Wizz Air continues to dominate activity at Suceava airport, transporting 646,018 passengers, accounting for around 84% of total traffic volume. The average occupancy of the company’s aircraft was around 90%. In December 2025, Wizz Air decided to reopen the operational base in Suceava, closed in 2023, a measure taken immediately after the installation of the new Instrument Landing System (ILS). Also in the last month of last year, new routes to Italy, Germany, Belgium, the UK and Cyprus were introduced, which quickly recorded load factors ranging from 70% to over 90%.

In order to support the long-term development, the President of Suceava County Council, Gheorghe Șoldan, announced that in January 2026 the tender for the design and construction of the third terminal of the airport will be launched. The new facility will have an area of about 11,000 square meters, three times larger than the existing terminals, a necessary investment in the current conditions of limited space. In addition to the new terminal and the operationalization of the ILS system, the modernization plan includes the extension of the parking area, the rehabilitation of the boarding/deplaning apron, as well as the construction of a new county road linking Suceava to the airport.
