Suceava Airport Invests €4.4 Million in New Parking Facilities

Suceava International Airport has initiated the approval procedures for a parking infrastructure expansion project valued at €4.41 million. The investment is sized to support the projected growth in air traffic, which could reach the threshold of 1.3 million annual passengers following the reopening of the Wizz Air operational base. The modernization aims to streamline vehicle access and adapt to the diverse needs of airport users, against the backdrop of a reported volume of 770,000 passengers for the year 2025.

According to documentation analyzed by the publication APIX.ro, the new parking lot will offer approximately 670 spaces, organized into five distinct zones to ensure functional separation of flows. Zone P1, intended for long-term parking, will have 241 spaces, while parking P2, for short-term use, will include 167 spaces, including six charging stations for electric vehicles and dedicated spaces for people with disabilities or families. Other sectors will be reserved for public transport, taxis, and ride-sharing services (40 spaces), rent-a-car operators (40 spaces), and administrative or VIP staff (180 spaces).

The project includes the implementation of a mobile application for access management and an advanced video surveillance system. The execution timeframe for the works is set at a maximum of 33 months. This modernization phase of the access roads complements other major ongoing investments at the Suceava terminal, including the construction of a new terminal, a €33 million investment. At the same time, the regional economic context is marked by large-scale investments such as Iulius Mall Suceava (€40 million) and the Suceava – Siret express road project.
