Study: Romanians are traveling more and more with children

According to a Vola.ro study conducted on flight bookings made in 2016 and 2017, there has been an increase of over 30% in travel with children.

Destinations with amusement parks, sunny areas, mild climates, and flights of maximum 3 hours are sought after.

For air travel for children under 2 years old, parents paid an average of 40 EUR last year. Children over the age of 2 will occupy a seat on the plane and will pay between 80% and 100% of the airfare, depending on the airline’s policy. The differences compared to the adult ticket price are minimal.

Summer is the season when Romanians travel to nearby summer destinations, such as Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, areas they reach either by charter flights or by personal car. In spring and autumn, however, they opt for mini-vacations at major European amusement parks such as Disneyland, Legoland, Kidzania, or in destinations with mild climates, such as Madrid or Barcelona. Consequently, the most requested destinations for travel with children are Paris-Disneyland, London-Warner Bros studios for Harry Potter fans and Kidzania, Munich – Legoland, and Barcelona – PortAventura.
