According to a study conducted by the online booking portal HotelGuru.ro among partner hoteliers, 45.6% of respondents have a positive outlook regarding the evolution of the number of tourists who will choose Romania as a destination, compared to last year.
The main services that most hotel owners would improve in 2017 are room comfort (78.9%) and the development of the SPA area within the accommodation units.
Hoteliers believe that a source of growth will also be the introduction of tourist vouchers for people working in state institutions, vouchers that will be introduced from July 1, 2017, and whose value is 1450 RON.
Most respondents stated that they plan to develop their services in 2017. The majority intend to improve the level of comfort in the rooms, while over 20% of hoteliers would like to offer guests better conditions in relaxation and SPA areas.
Approximately half of the respondents aim to develop promotional campaigns this year and increase the number of qualified staff within the accommodation units.
The average budget allocated by tourists for a stay in the country ranges between 300 and 500 RON per couple.
According to hoteliers, the majority of those who check in prefer to stay between two and three nights. 73% of hoteliers in Romania receive the most requests for weekend periods.
At the same time, clients of 26% of accommodation units choose to make reservations for an entire week.
Also, the most popular period of the year remains the summer season, when the occupancy rate of guesthouses and hotels approaches 100%.
The study was conducted on a sample of 100 accommodation units in Romania and aimed to centralize the estimates of Romanian hoteliers for 2017 in terms of tourism evolution compared to 2016.
