According to an MKOR Consulting study, 77% of Romanians plan to go on vacation this summer and even spend more than last year.
21% of respondents have not decided if they will go on vacation.
Regarding the destination, half of Romanians prefer to stay in Romania, choosing the seaside in particular, while the others choose foreign destinations.
Money is not the main criterion for Romanians when choosing a vacation – only 25% consider the price, while 41% of those who responded state that landscapes and tourist attractions are important.
50% have the same budget as in 2016, 32% said they will allocate more money for this summer’s vacation.
Specifically, 37% have a budget between 501 and 1,000 EUR, and 15% planned to spend between 1,000 and 2,000 EUR. However, there is a percentage of 28% of respondents who admit they have a sum under 500 EUR available.
Regarding the vacation spot, one-third of Romanians are going to a new destination in 2017, while the rest choose a place they have visited at least once before.
47% of respondents chose 3-star hotels, and regarding the duration, 39% said the vacation will last between 4 and 6 days, and 37% between 7 and a maximum of 9 days.
60% of the Romanians interviewed plan their vacation themselves and only 40% turned to travel agency services for this summer.
As a general behavior, 31% of Romanians stated they go on vacation annually and 36% twice a year.
The MKOR Consulting study was conducted between May 8-14, through an online questionnaire applied to a national representative sample of 1,155 respondents.
