Sicily: Measures to Boost the Tourism Sector

Sicily has already started thinking about the post-coronavirus tourism revival and has announced that it will cover half of the flight costs and one-third of the hotel expenses for tourists wishing to visit. Additionally, tourists can receive free tickets to museums and archaeological sites.
Since the date it closed, March 10, Sicily has lost up to EUR 1 billion in tourism revenue. Even though the proposed scheme to encourage tourism would cost the island’s administration EUR 50 million, Italian authorities still consider it a good investment.
These vouchers will be available on the Visit Sicily website immediately after the country reopens its borders, but this date is currently unknown.
Italy will allow restaurants to open, but only for delivery services, starting May 4, and will also reopen the construction sector.
