In the coming months, the management of Sibiu International Airport will launch tenders for new routes to Spain, Italy, and Germany, according to a press release from the Sibiu County Council.
“Additionally, following the completion of the opportunity study regarding the development of cargo and logistics operations, Sibiu Airport will proceed with the project’s implementation. Cargo operations have already been initiated in cooperation with a company specialized in high-speed global logistics services across the air-rail-road traffic network, with traffic at Sibiu Airport currently at 20-30 shipments/receipts per month,” the statement says.
At the same time, the Airport intends to purchase de-icing equipment in the near future to remove ice.
In 2015, Sibiu Airport recorded 276,533 embarked-disembarked passengers, an increase of 28% compared to 2014, while total traffic including transit passengers was 307,053. The number of aircraft movements was 5,468, up 12% from the previous year.
