Sibiu has more restaurants than Amsterdam or Istanbul, relative to every one hundred thousand inhabitants, due to tourism development over the last decade, since receiving the title of European Capital of Culture in 2007, stated the president of the county’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, Aurel Aldea.
“Our city, which does not exceed 150,000 inhabitants, has around 200 restaurants, a number that is not at all negligible because, if we look at recent statistics, the number of restaurants per one hundred thousand inhabitants in Sibiu exceeds that of Amsterdam, Istanbul, Stockholm, for example,” Aldea specified at the opening of the GastroPan international exhibition, which took place between March 23-25 in Sibiu.
In 2019, Sibiu County will be a European Gastronomic Region.
