Ten years after its launch on the Romanian market, Salesianer Miettex, an Austrian company and market leader in the commercial laundry segment in Central and Eastern Europe, has acquired S.C. Promar Textil from Brasov and its brand, Kromatic. Salesianer operates in the field of professional cleaning services and textile rental for the medical, HoReCa, and industrial sectors.
The investment amounts to over 5 million Euro and is part of the company’s strategic development plan to cover the territory of Romania nationwide with its services. In 2007, the company entered the Romanian market by opening a laundry facility in Bucharest, and in 2014, the company launched a new factory in the west of the country, in Oradea.
Now, after a long period of negotiations, the acquisition in Brasov County has been finalized. Through this step, Salesianer Miettex will directly cover the counties of Brasov, Prahova, Sibiu, Harghita, Covasna, and Mures with its services.
“Currently, through this new acquisition, we are increasing our capacity by approximately 25% and will cover 80% of the country’s territory, enabling us to develop synergies both locally and internationally with other countries in the group through RFID (Radio-frequency identification) technology. This technology allows for the automatic and unique identification of textile items based on an electronic RFID tag, thus providing various information regarding textile traceability. In all these counties (Bv, PH, Sb, Cv, Ms), Salesianer Miettex already has clients to whom it makes deliveries; however, following this acquisition, we will optimize logistics by integrating existing clients and contracting new ones,” stated Adrian Chiorean, General Manager for Romania at Salesianer Miettex.
Following the acquisition, Salesianer Miettex will have 300 employees in Romania, with approximately 90 people working in Brasov. For the Brasov laundry facility, the Austrian company will make minor improvements to the technological flow, as Promar Textil had already carried out a major investment in 2014.
Additionally, the Moraru family, the former owners of the Kromatic brand, will collaborate with Salesianer Miettex, planning to develop new research and development projects in the field of RFID and beyond.

“In 2014, when we finalized the investment in Oradea, we had a turnover of 4.5 million Euro. Before the acquisition in Brasov, we had 7.3 million Euro, and now, together with the Brasov factory, we will have a turnover of 10 million Euro. We estimate that we will end 2018 with 11.5 million Euro,” Adrian Chiorean further stated.
Salesianer Miettex now washes 25 tons of textiles per day in Romania, and in Brasov, 8 tons are washed per day, making a total of 32 tons per day—approximately 2300-2500 kg per hour (the equivalent of over 6500 domestic washing machines daily!).

At the European level, Salesianer Miettex sanitizes 510 tons of textiles per day across 9 countries, has 3300 employees, and over 30,000 clients.
In Romania, the Austrian company has clients in the hotel sector (Radisson Hotel, Novotel Hotel, Garden Inn by Hilton, Hotel President Oradea, Double Tree by Hilton Cluj, Mercure Sighisoara); the industrial sector (Marquardt, Swoboda Hartman, Porsche in the automotive industry, Aaylex—owners of the Coco Rico brand, Agricola Bacau, Heidi Chocolat in the food industry; Infomed Fluids, Actavis in the pharma industry); and in the medical field, various private and state hospitals (Matei Bals Hospital, Filantropia Maternity, Sanador, Medicover, Timisoara County Hospital, Oradea County Hospital, Oradea Municipal Hospital).
About Salesianer Miettex:
SALESIANER MIETTEX represents progress in textile management. Founded as a family business back in 1916, the company provides a solid foundation in customized textile rental solutions. The company’s core activity consists of complete textile rental services for hotels and restaurants, work uniforms for industry and commerce, as well as the supply of textile items for the healthcare sector. To this are added textiles for CLEANROOM environments, hygiene products for washrooms, as well as standard and promotional washable entrance mats. The commitment to quality, hygiene, sustainability, and investments in the most modern technology and qualified employees have determined its superior market position.
SALESIANER MIETTEX extends the hygiene guarantee to almost all commercial sectors.
What began with equipping hospitals and nursing homes has been applied to the entire textile management. SALESIANER MIETTEX meets the requirements and standards imposed on laundries that process textile items for hospitals. The same standards apply to textile items for hotels, restaurants, and work uniforms from industrial enterprises.
Hygiene is a particularly important concern. Outsourcing textile logistics has become an efficient means of textile management. This is about more than just hygiene. Extensive hygiene is indispensable for protection against microbes and pathogens. Previously, for example, it was common for hotels and restaurants to handle textile items in their own laundries. Recognized hygiene experts, such as Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dieter Zastrow from the Institute for Hygiene and Environmental Medicine in Berlin, warn: “Many companies have a false impression when it comes to hygiene, namely that it can be achieved by washing in 7.5 kg machines at 30°C. Germ removal cannot be achieved this way, and textiles implicitly become a source of microbes.” Standardized professional methods can practically only be obtained through outsourcing to specialists. SALESIANER MIETTEX makes textile management economically attractive.
