Low-cost airline Ryanair has received approval from the European Commission to take control of the low-cost airline Laudamotion, founded by Austrian Niki Lauda, triple Formula 1 world champion.
In the spring of this year, Ryanair agreed to acquire a 24.9% stake in Laudamotion, and has now received approval from Brussels to increase its stake to 75%, giving it majority shareholder status.
Ryanair stated that it intends to expand in Vienna in the coming years and build a base with up to 50 aircraft.
