Starting December 1st, Canadian authorities intend to eliminate the visa requirement for Romanian citizens traveling to Canada for stays of up to 6 months for tourism purposes, including visiting family / acquaintances or for prospecting business opportunities, regardless of the type of passport they hold, announces the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
However, individuals intending to enter / transit Canada by air after December 1, 2017, must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization – eTA in advance.
The eTA is valid for a duration of up to 5 years and allows travelers to travel to Canada by air as frequently as they wish, for short periods (generally up to six consecutive months), for studies, transiting through a Canadian airport, tourist visits, or business trips.
