Romanians are increasingly attracted to the French Riviera

The Regional Tourism Committee of the Côte d’Azur has set its 2018 strategy to increase the number of Romanian tourists in the area, targeting a 23% growth in the number of Romanian visitors to southern France. Last year, 65,000 Romanians visited the French Riviera and stayed an average of 8.5 nights. They spend approximately EUR 75/day and just over EUR 700 for the entire holiday.

During a press conference held at the French Embassy, representatives of the Regional Tourism Committee of the Côte d’Azur announced that the airline Blue Air will operate flights from Cluj-Napoca starting June 26.

Last year, France recorded a record number of tourists, around 89 million, and the Côte d’Azur region ranks second in terms of visitor numbers.

Following the 2016 terrorist attacks in Nice, which resulted in 84 deaths, the French Riviera saw a slight decrease in tourist numbers, a crisis quickly overcome by the French.

The Côte d’Azur is France’s second destination by the number of foreign tourists, with their numbers reaching 11 million last year.
