Romanians allocate 60% of monthly income during the summer season

Romania ranks 5th in the top summer 2017 vacation spending, with Romanians set to spend 60% of their monthly income during the summer season, according to a study on summer consumption behaviors conducted by Ferratum Group, which involved over 10,000 households. How are consumers planning their summer vacations? Residents of which country will spend the most this summer? Who will use Airbnb services, and which activities are the most popular this year?   
This year, among the top options for Romanians when it comes to spending their summer vacation, we find the funding of activities for children, for which Romanians are willing to allocate 18% of their monthly income, followed by gardening and DIY (17%) and sporting events (13%). 
However, when it comes to travel, 31% of Romanians are considering using Airbnb services, and only 1% plan to pay over 100 EUR for a hotel night.
Over 40% of respondents will spend approximately the same amount as last summer, while 30% plan to spend significantly more.
A significant increase is expected in Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia compared to last year, with respondents allocating over 60% of their monthly income for the summer vacation. 
At the bottom of the ranking are the UK – 34%, Finland – 35%, and the Netherlands – 38%, which plan to spend the least on this year’s summer vacation.
 
Travel within the home country ranks 1st in this summer’s spending top (18%), followed by summer activities and summer clothing/accessories (13%).     
In Latvia and Lithuania, 25% of summer spending will be allocated to summer clothes and accessories.
The least popular activities this summer are sports and leisure, for which survey participants say they will not allocate more than 5%.   
The results of the Ferratum Group Summer Barometer show that DIY and gardening are the number one options for residents in Bulgaria, Denmark, the Czech Republic, France, Finland, Croatia, and Estonia.
Approximately 20% of the money spent this summer will be allocated to domestic travel, while only 8% is planned for international travel.   
Spaniards have placed international travel at the top of this year’s spending list, for which they plan to spend 20% of their monthly income.
