The Litoral-Delta Dunarii Promotion Association estimates an increase of approximately 18-20% in the number of tourists on the Romanian Black Sea coast during this year’s summer season. This growth is attributed to the intense promotion campaign for the seaside, launched as early as last autumn, the large number of events organized in all resorts—particularly through the “Mamaia Style” campaign—the improvement of service standards offered by hoteliers and owners of catering and leisure facilities, as well as measures recently adopted by the Romanian Government, which had a direct effect on stimulating tourism circulation in Romania.
The top resorts this year were Mamaia, Eforie, and Venus.
Furthermore, the overall increase is due to the sustained promotion of the seaside, started last autumn together with travel agencies, hoteliers, and local authorities, through the participation of the Litoral – Delta Dunarii Association in all national tourism fairs (Bucharest, Cluj, Timisoara, Brasov, Iasi, Bacau, Ploiesti) and international ones (London, Warsaw, Tel Aviv, Chisinau, Berlin), and with the launch of the “Early Booking” program as early as November 2015.
This year, the number of charter flights on the Tel Aviv – Constanta route doubled compared to 2014, generating a total volume of 4,000 Israeli tourists and revenues of 4 million USD from holiday packages, plus approximately 1.5 million USD from the sale of tickets to attractions, tours, and local excursions. To achieve this, the Litoral – Delta Dunarii Association launched a premiere promotion campaign on the 5 most important radio stations in Israel, created a Mamaia Official video spot in Hebrew, and the first official promotional brochures in Hebrew.
Last but not least, the increase in the number of tourists is due to better communication with hoteliers, travel agencies, and local authorities, as well as the impact on tourism markets in Bulgaria, Egypt, Tunisia, and Greece.
