The Ministry of Economy wants to establish the Romanian Coordination Center for the Carpathian Convention on Sustainable Tourism in the Carpathian Mountains, based in Brașov, to manage tourist traffic and tourist destinations in the Carpathians. The center will have five positions, and the generated personnel expenses are estimated at 25,000 RON/month.
“The center will be established within the National Authority for Tourism, ANT, and will be funded from the state budget through the budget of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Relations with the Business Environment,” shows the draft decision on this topic published by the ministry.
“Representatives of the member states of the regional initiative Carpathian Convention – Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia and Montenegro, Romania and Poland – on whose territory the Carpathian Mountains are located, met in April this year in Brașov, at the meeting of the working group on sustainable tourism, an occasion on which the establishment of a Tourism Coordination Center within the Carpathian Convention in Romania, based in Brașov, was discussed,” the substantiation note specifies.
The Framework Convention for the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Carpathians was signed in 2003 by the states on whose territory the Carpathian Mountains are located and entered into force on January 4, 2006.
