At the beginning of summer 2026, the direct Bucharest-Chicago route will be inaugurated, the second direct Romania-USA connection, after the one to New York launched in 2024. Flights will operate every Thursday and Sunday, departing at 09:00 from Henri Coandă Airport.
The flight time to Chicago will be 10 hours and 50 minutes, and the return will be 9 hours and 50 minutes. Passengers from Timisoara, Cluj, Oradea, Oradea, Iasi, Baia Mare, as well as from Chisinau or Tel Aviv will be able to book a single ticket with a connection to Bucharest, so that the total travel time does not exceed 13 hours.
Iulian Scorpan, CEO, emphasized that the decision was influenced by the success of the route to New York and the size of the Romanian and Moldovan community in Chicago. “The city of Chicago is an important hub for tourism, business and for our community, and the launch of this route responds to passenger demand for fast and comfortable travel across the ocean,” he said.
