Road traffic on Transalpina and Transfagarasan could resume on May 29 and July 1, respectively

Road traffic on national road 67 C – Transalpina – could be opened this week, after the snow on the roadway was removed and maintenance work was carried out, the commission consisting of representatives of CNAIR and the Road Police from Valcea and Gorj counties following to meet to decide whether they will reopen the road.
DRDP Craiova representatives have removed the snow deposited on the roadway, finalized the road markings, and installed the safety and signaling elements damaged during the winter.
If current weather conditions are maintained and it is found that the works were carried out according to regulations, the Commission will be able to decide as early as Monday, May 29, to open road traffic on Transalpina.
Also, road workers have begun to clear the snow from DN 7 C – Transfagarasan so that it can be reopened to road traffic from July 1. Currently, Balea Lac, at over 2,000 m altitude, can only be reached by cable car.
Transfagarasan connects Sibiu and Arges counties and is closed annually between November 1 and July 1, on the road sector between kilometer 104 (Piscu Negru, Arges county) and kilometer 131 (Balea Cascada, Sibiu county), with traffic being allowed on the other portions all year round.
