The rehabilitation works for the beaches in the southern part of the Romanian Black Sea coast that are yet to be completed will require 551.67 million RON, according to a draft Government Decision submitted for public debate on the website of the Ministry of Environment, Waters, and Forests (MMAP).
The draft normative act, which refers to the investment objective “Protection and rehabilitation of the southern part of the Romanian Black Sea coast in the area of Constanta municipality (Mamaia South, Tomis North, Tomis Center, and Tomis South) and Eforie Nord, Constanta county,” reveals that, in terms of technical-economic indicators, the total value of the investment amounts to 582.066 million RON (including VAT), while 551.672 million RON (including VAT) represents the amount of the investment remaining to be executed.
According to MMAP, the largest amount will go towards widening the beach at Tomis North (Constanta), namely 157.829 million RON, followed by Eforie Nord – 153.524 million RON, Tomis Center – 112.921 million RON, Tomis South – 95.571 million RON, and Mamaia South – 62.221 million RON. All amounts include VAT.
The total execution duration of the works is 33 months; however, for the remaining tasks, the interval spans 9 months, according to the substantiation note accompanying the normative act.
The funding for the investment objective is provided by non-reimbursable external funds from the Sectoral Operational Program Environment – Priority Axis 5 – Implementation of adequate infrastructure for the prevention of natural risks in the areas most exposed to risk, Major Field of Intervention 2 – Reduction of coastal erosion, from the state budget through the MMAP budget, within the limits of the amounts approved annually for this purpose, as well as from other legally constituted sources, according to the public investment programs approved by law.
