Pescatourism – A New Vacation Concept to Attract Tourists to the Danube Delta
Pescatourism is a new concept proposed by fishermen in the Danube Delta to attract tourists to the area. Thus, visitors will experience the life of a fisherman in a traditional household.
The project cost 30,000 EUR and is funded by the foundation of former champion Ivan Patzaichin, and the first tourists will arrive in the Danube Delta in October.
From Tulcea, tourists will be taken by fast boats to Mila 23, where they will be welcomed by villagers, who will take them on lotca rides through the canals of the Danube Delta. At the same time, together with the villagers, they will pull fish from the fishing nets set in the morning by the locals.
A three-and-a-half-hour excursion will cost 150 RON and includes a boat ride, a fishing demonstration, and a visit to a fishing shelter where tourists will be greeted with music and traditional fish soup.
After the few hours spent in the refuge in the heart of the Delta, tourists will spend the night in fishermen’s huts or in guesthouses. Soon, two more buildings will be erected for visitor accommodation in the commune of Mila 23.
