Paralela 45 Could Merge with an Incoming Tourism Firm

The travel agency Paralela 45 could merge with an incoming tourism firm, announced Alin Burcea, the company’s owner, who also specified that for this year he estimates a turnover increase of 12-15%, from EUR 70 million in 2019.
„We will probably merge with an incoming firm on the market,” stated Alin Burcea during a press conference organized on the occasion of the company’s 30th anniversary, specifying that he cannot provide more details at this time.
Otherwise, he is considering that the travel agency might no longer participate in the autumn edition of the Tourism Fair organized by the National Association of Travel Agencies in Romania (ANAT) at Romexpo.
1.8 million tourists have traveled with Paralela 45 in 30 years, which reached a turnover of EUR 70 million at the end of last year and estimates a 12-15% growth this year.
The company will reach EUR 5 million in online sales this year, a segment representing 7% of the total.
Burcea estimates that in its 30 years of activity, the company has recorded cumulative sales of EUR 1 billion.
He recounted the history of the travel agency opened in January 1990, when Alin Burcea and Adrian Grigorescu, colleagues and guides at the Tourism, Hotels, and Restaurants Enterprise, decided to open a travel agency together. Three months later, Paralela 45, a name given by a visual artist, inaugurated its first headquarters on Regina Elisabeta Boulevard, and the owners were surprised by the avalanche of tourists.
The tour operator’s activity currently takes place through a network of 50 own agencies and franchises.
