On August 7, the financing contract for the project “Expansion of the Dolphinarium, Constanta Municipality” was signed by the President of the County Council, Marius Horia Tutuianu, and the Minister of Tourism, Bogdan Trif..
Thus, the Constanta Dolphinarium will be expanded following an investment of 5.6 million EUR, and 70% of this amount will be provided by the Ministry of Tourism, the rest being from the County Council. The works will last 2 years.
Within this project, a training pool of approximately 600 sqm will be built, which will be equipped with a double stranding platform (for two dolphins) and will present characteristics specific to the natural environment, thus creating lagoon-type conditions, including a sandy area.
Also, a filtration station and a pumping station will be built to maintain water quality, as well as an administrative headquarters where there will be rooms for trainers, for preparing dolphin food, storage, and locker rooms with showers.
During the works, dolphin shows will take place in the small pool within the Constanta Museum Complex of Natural Sciences.
