In the first six months of this year, Romania was visited by over 1 million foreign tourists, over 100,000 more than in the same period of 2015, according to INS data. Most foreign tourists came from Germany, Italy, Israel, but the number of tourists from the Netherlands and Poland also increased.
They spent €615 million in our country, €33 million more than in the first half of 2015. Over half of this amount, 59%, was intended for business visits, and the rest for vacations.
In first place in the spending rankings are tourists from Israel, who spent €81 million for vacations in Romania, up from €63.5 million in the first semester of 2015.
The following countries in the spending rankings are: Germany – €60.38 million, Italy – €52 million, United Kingdom – €43.4 million, USA – €41.3 million, France – €32.5 million, Poland – €32.22 million, Hungary – €24 million, Netherlands – €20.3 million, and Turkey – €18.5 million.
