On June 15, in the Oradea Fortress, the International Federation of Journalists and Writers of Tourism, FIJET, awarded the city of Oradea the „Golden Apple” trophy.
Oradea’s candidacy for the „Golden Apple” was announced and supported by the FIJET Romania Tourism Press Club at the FIJET Congress organized at the end of last year in Marrakech, Morocco, the decision being made, after analyzing the candidacy file, by the FIJET Executive Committee in March of this year.
The main reason why Oradea was proposed to join the gallery of destinations from all over the world awarded the Golden Apple is its tourist attractiveness.
FIJET considers that the „Golden Apple” trophy rewards the municipality for its intense activity of promoting and developing tourism in Oradea and, at the same time, will encourage it to continue. On the other hand, the „Golden Apple” trophy will contribute to increasing international visibility, through the way Oradea will be promoted by FIJET member journalists.
Since 1970, FIJET has awarded 68 „Golden Apples”. The „Golden Apple” trophy, received by Oradea, is the 6th that Romania receives after those conferred on the monasteries with mural paintings in Bucovina, the Danube Delta, Marginimea Sibiului, the airline Blue Air, and the municipality of Targu Jiu for the open-air works of Constantin Brancusi.
