The consumer protection organization InfoCons makes available to consumers the updated list of licensed accommodation establishments and travel agencies in Romania, as well as licensed catering establishments, through the InfoCons European App.
World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on 27 September by 159 countries, six territories, two observer members and more than 500 affiliate members of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
“In the context of travel, consumers should ensure that the location selected for accommodation complies with the criteria for classification under the law and also ensure that it is licensed and that the classification obtained corresponds,” a statement from the organization said.
This option is only available for Romania and the European InfoCons App must be set from the “Choose language” section, selecting the Romanian language.
By accessing the “Check tourism company” section, available in the European InfoCons application menu, the consumer can search for information on the economic operator (hotel, hostel, travel agency, etc.) by name.
With the help of the free European InfoCons App, consumers will be alerted by the “!” sign and the red text color if the economic operator they are looking for has had its license withdrawn or cancelled.
In case consumers encounter any problems during their travels, InfoCons makes the SOS section of the European InfoCons App available to everyone.
By simply accessing the application, consumers, regardless of the language they speak, have access to all the emergency numbers in Romania and internationally.
The SOS section of the InfoCons European InfoCons App can also be used offline, so emergency numbers can be called directly from the app without an internet connection.
Regardless of the country in which the consumer is located, he/she can call the local authorities in charge if he/she encounters a problem or observes a violation of other citizens’ rights (consumer protection, police, fire brigade, ambulance, etc.), through the SOS section of the InfoCons European App.
