OMD Tulcea Accesses €100,000 from PNRR for Tourism Digitalization

The Tulcea Local Council approved on Tuesday the participation of the Destination Management Organization (OMD) Tulcea in a tourism digitalization project funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The initiative, with a budget of €100,000, aims to modernize the “Tu și Tulcea” platform and implement integrated digital solutions to increase the municipality’s attractiveness as a gateway to the Danube Delta.

The project, titled “Smart Destination: integrated digital solutions and recreational infrastructure for increasing tourist attractiveness and competitiveness,” aims to access the maximum ceiling of €100,000 available through component C11 – Tourism and Culture of the PNRR, which has a total budget of €10 million. The manager of OMD Tulcea, Alexandru Filip, specified that the investment requires a local co-financing of 20%, representing approximately €20,000. The central objective is to transform the “Tu și Tulcea” platform into a complex tool that will include an online booking system for excursions and a digital tourist card.

The card will be generated electronically, being offered free of charge to tourists for the first five years, and will operate on the “city-pass” model found in major European destinations. Targeted facilities include discounts at HoReCa establishments, access to museums managed by the Eco-Museum Research Institute (ICEM), and partnerships for local public transport. In addition to the digital component, the project includes equipping the “Parcul personalităților” (Personalities Park) in the municipality with sports equipment. The response deadline regarding the funding is April 16, and implementation must be completed by July 31, so that the new tools are operational during the current tourist season.
