A new highway will bring a major change to the seaside. In April 2024, tenders will be launched for the highway that will connect Constanța to Mangalia and will cross almost all resorts on the Black Sea coast.
At the latest in April – May, we are launching the tenders – execution of works for Brăila – Focșani and for Constanța – Mangalia,” stated the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport, Ionel Scrioșteanu.
The total value of the Seaside Highway project is EUR 1.15 billion and was secured from non-reimbursable external funds.
The route crosses the following localities: Techirghiol – Eforie – Cumpăna – Agigea – Topraisar – Tuzla – 23 August.
The old road to the seaside resorts will remain, while the highway will follow a completely new route.
Technical characteristics of the Seaside Highway:
- 30.59 km route length;
- two traffic lanes per direction;
- 31 structures (bridges, passages, viaducts), including the construction of a new bridge over the Danube – Black Sea Canal;
- service areas (left/right);
- parking lots (left/right);
- Maintenance and Coordination Center;
- five road nodes: Cumpăna (km 2+600), Seaside Highway and connecting road (km 5+960), connection between the connecting road and the DN39A – DN39 passage (km 5+960), DN38 (km 11+000), 23 August (km 30+220).
