New Government wants to purchase at least 20 planes for Tarom

Liviu Dragnea has made public the measures the new Government will take immediately after its inauguration, including the acquisition of at least 20 aircraft for Tarom.
The national air transport company still has 23 aircraft, after the Airbus A310 aircraft were recently retired from the fleet.
„From September 1st, the process of purchasing at least 20 aircraft by Tarom will begin. This is the first package,” stated Liviu Dragnea, the PSD leader, during a press conference.
He did not specify the method by which the aircraft could be purchased, since a single Airbus A320 aircraft, a model predominantly operated by Wizz Air, has a list price of 98 million USD, and the cost for 20 aircraft would be approximately 2 billion USD.
At the beginning of November, the Minister of Transport, Sorin Buse, stated that he had already had discussions with Boeing and ATR, but that he would also have discussions with Airbus, Embraer, and Bombardier to replace Tarom’s entire fleet in the future.
