Ministry of Tourism’s Marketing and Promotion Budget to Increase by Over 80% in 2018

The marketing and promotion budget of the Ministry of Tourism will see an increase of 80.84% in the 2018 draft budget, representing an additional 15.341 million RON, stated Gheorghe-Bogdan Tomoiaga, State Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, during the joint specialized parliamentary committees.
 
He specified that the ministry has a budget of 63.4 million RON in 2018, an increase of 39.82% compared to the projected execution for 2017, and in the promotion and marketing category, there is an 80.84% increase, specifically by 15.341 million RON.
He noted that the 2018 budget also provides for the granting of holiday vouchers to all employees. 
During the committee discussions, 6 amendments were read regarding the allocation of funds for certain investments in the health resorts of Borsec, Moneasa, Baile Herculane, or Ocna Mures, such as sledding slopes, aqua parks, or recognition as a resort of public interest, as well as the establishment of tourist information centers in the Mariselu commune of Cluj County. 
Additionally, the committees requested the allocation of 1 million RON for the payment of compensation to beneficiaries of services from Omnia Turism. 
All amendments were rejected, given that some of these investments were included in the tourism master plan and some are currently being funded, while regarding the compensation for Omnia tourists, the Ministry of Tourism official stated that the legislation regarding the guarantee of tourist packages is being updated. 
The joint specialized parliamentary committees approved the Ministry of Tourism’s budget on Tuesday with 28 votes in favor and 14 against. 
According to next year’s draft budget, the Ministry of Tourism is allocated commitment credits of 65.409 million RON, of which budget credits represent 63.409 million RON, marking a 39.8% increase compared to last year.
