Minister Ștefan Radu Oprea warns that beach auctions have not yet taken place

The Minister of Economy, Ștefan Radu Oprea, stated on Monday that the beach auction has not yet been conducted. He explained that a short-term concession means higher costs, which will also generate higher expenses for tourists.

Ștefan Radu Oprea stated that Romanian tourism should offer local Romanian tourists the possibility to relax.

”I must be able to rest, to be able to relax,” said the minister, noting that there are success stories on the Romanian seaside that can provide this offer of relaxation. Ștefan Radu Oprea stated that he discussed with the local authorities in the Mangalia area about better cooperation between local authorities and the ministry, but also with other authorities, such as the Romanian Waters (Apele Române).

”The beach auction has not yet been conducted. May 1st is already coming, it’s knocking at the door. We must have the possibility to set them up,” stated Ștefan Radu Oprea, highlighting the fact that entrepreneurs need a longer concession period for those beaches, because they want clients in the first year and in the fifth or ninth year.

The Minister of Economy and Tourism explained that for a short-term concession of one year, the costs are higher.
