Metrorex is moving forward with the metro to Otopeni Airport

Work is progressing on the new Magistral Line 6, which will link Otopeni airport. The design and execution works for the design and execution of the resistance structure of stations, galleries and tunnels for the SOUTH SECTION, 1 May – Tokyo were marked by the launching ceremony of the first TBM Sfânta Maria – which became operational on April 9.

For the future Tokyo subway station, 625 m of 690 m guide beam, 101 of 114 molded wall panels and 34 of 52 bars were executed; TBM Sfânta Maria started excavation of the first tunnel to 1 Mai subway station and has completed 99.80 m of tunnel. The TBM Sfânta Ana is in installation preparations to excavate the second tunnel in the same direction;

At the Tokyo – Aeroport Băneasa intersection, 180 piles were made, 880 cubic meters were excavated and 37 cubic meters were concreted; For the future Aeroport Băneasa station, 370 m of guide beam and 67 panels of 72 molded walls were made; for Access A, 67 piles were completed, and for Access B, 152 piles. 691 plastic walls out of 922 were made, 26,076 cubic meters were excavated and 1737 cubic meters were concreted; At the Băneasa Airport – Băneasa Train Station intersection, 46 piles were made and work began on the diversion of the utility networks for the ventilation plant; 16.647 cubic meters were excavated at the future Gara Băneasa metro station and 2,609 cubic meters were concreted; the balance of this site totals 320 m of guide beam, 54 panels of molded walls, 18 bars, 12 plastic molded walls, 90 plastic piles and 90 piles for Access A.

For section 1.2 (from Tokyo station to Otopeni Airport), Metrorex signed in May 2023 a contract for the execution of the structures with the Turkish Gülermak Ağir Sanayi Inșaat Ve Taahhüt A.S.-Somet SA. Incidentally, Gulermak, in a joint venture with Alstom and Arcada, will also design and build the Cluj Napoca metro. Lot 1.2 (Tokyo – Otopeni Airport) of Line 6 will be 7.6 km long. There will be 6 metro stations: Washington, Paris, Brussels, Otopeni, Ion I.C. Brătianu, Otopeni Airport. Once completed, this lot will complete the route of the Magistrale 6 metro line and will link the existing 1 Mai metro station to Otopeni Airport.
