Mercure hotel opened its doors in the historic city of Alba Iulia

Accor Group has inaugurated Mercure Alba Iulia, the first hotel in the city affiliated to an international chain. Located 5 minutes from the Alba Carolina Citadel, the 4-star complex has 118 rooms, a SPA center inspired by Roman thermal baths, an à la carte restaurant with Transylvanian influences, modular conference spaces for up to 500 people and its own parking.

The interior design capitalizes on local heritage, inspired by a recently discovered Roman road in ancient Apulum. Each room has Roman, medieval or modern themed elements.

The project is being developed by Dentotal Group, an Accor partner, which already operates three hotels in Romania and has another under development. The opening marks the expansion of Accor’s network, which has 24 hotels in the country (2,600 rooms) and plans to open 18 more by 2027.

The Mercure brand, with more than 1,000 hotels in 70 countries, integrates the Discover Local program, which promotes the gastronomy, stories and traditions of each region, strengthening guests’ connection with the destination.
