Mercure hotel chain to grow substantially in Romania in the next two years

Mercure, the world’s largest midscale brand, part of Accor, has one of the most dynamic and fastest growing networks in Romania. The brand currently has 9 hotels with a total of 717 rooms and is set to expand its network in the coming years. The existing hotels are spread throughout the country, in Bucharest, Sighișoara, Sibiu, Timișoara, Mediaș, Galați, Cozieni, Ilfov. The Mercure portfolio in Romania grew in 2023 with two important openings: the Mercure Conacul Cozieni and Mercure Sibiu Arsenal. Mercure Conacul Cozieni (June 2023) Located just 20 minutes from Bucharest, in the natural landscape surrounding the Pasărea Monastery, the hotel features a mix of 73 modern, creatively designed rooms decorated with exquisite paintings and stylized motifs inspired by traditional Romanian design, along with the Elements restaurant and four conference rooms that can accommodate up to 250 people. These spaces are ideal for hosting business meetings, seminars, corporate events or weddings. Guests can enjoy rituals of relaxation and rejuvenation at the wellness center, with saunas, fitness and outdoor pool. Mercure Sibiu Arsenal (October 2023) The hotel comprises 121 uniquely designed rooms offering a comfortable stay for leisure and business travelers. The hotel offers easy access to the city’s rich medieval history and architectural splendors. It is located at 48 Victoriei Avenue, across the street from Sub Arini, the city’s most beloved park. The opening calendar includes seven new hotels in six cities scheduled to open in the next two years:

  • Mercure Alba Iulia Cetate;
  • Mercure Bacău;
  • Mercure Oradea;
  • Mercure Brasov Old Town;

The next hotel to join the Mercure family in Romania is the Mercure Bucharest Cantemir. The hotel will offer visitors to Bucharest and the local community 40 exquisitely designed guest rooms, a restaurant, a bar and a conference room, divisible into two separate meeting rooms. All the facilities will be housed in a renovated building on the popular Dimitrie Cantemir Boulevard, which connects Unirii Square to Tineretului Park and other key destinations in the southern part of Bucharest. Mercure is planning even bigger achievements, with more than 200 new properties under development.
