Marriott completely halts investments and hotel development in Russia

The Marriott International hotel chain has announced that it has decided to stop the opening of future hotels and to completely halt investments and future hotel development in Russia, following the invasion of Ukraine.

Additionally, the American company will close its corporate office in Russia, joining other hotel chains that have made similar decisions, such as Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc and Hyatt Hotels Corp.

“Our hotels in Russia are owned by third parties, and we continue to evaluate the ability for these hotels to remain open,” Marriott informed.
