Maramureș: EUR 118k from NRRP for digital tourism

Maramureș County and the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism have signed a financing contract through the NRRP worth approximately EUR 118.22 thousand for the project “SMARTMM – Digital transformation of the Maramureș tourist destination.” The initiative aims to create an integrated digital infrastructure and introduce smart tools to support the unified development and promotion of the destination.

The project, carried out in partnership with the Maramureș County Destination Management Organization, benefits from a non-reimbursable financial grant of around EUR 97.23 thousand through Component C11 of the NRRP, supplemented by non-eligible expenses of EUR 20.99 thousand. The official implementation period runs between August 7 and August 31, 2026.

The main objectives include upgrading the www.visitmaramures.ro platform and implementing a Destination Management System (DMS) to monitor visitor flows and analyze data on local infrastructure and services. The investment will see the development of a digital registry of tourism operators, an interactive cultural heritage map, a virtual gallery dedicated to folk artisans and traditional products, and an integrated media library. Additionally, the project includes conducting a positioning audit, a brand strategy, and a visual identity manual for the destination.
