The Heroes’ Cross Monument on Mount Caraiman has passed into the administration of the Ministry of National Defense to be rehabilitated, according to a press release from MApN.
According to the release, the protocol and the handover-takeover certificate through which the property passed from the public domain of the City of Bușteni to the public domain of the state and into the administration of MApN were signed on March 14.
“As a tribute to the supreme sacrifice of those who fell in the war for national reunification, M.Ap.N. aims to complete the works in the year of the Great Union Centenary celebration. The monument was built between 1926 and 1928 on Mount Caraiman, at an altitude of 2291 m, to honor the memory of those who fell in the First World War. On September 14, 1928, the inauguration and consecration of the monument took place,” states MApN.
