The latest study conducted by Reveal Marketing Research aimed to identify the attitudes, behaviors, and perceptions of Romanian tourists regarding vacations spent on the Romanian coast, given that the summer season has already begun.

At the top of the destinations preferred by Romanian tourists for a future vacation on the Romanian seaside, we find the resorts of Mamaia (45%), Eforie Nord (36%), and Costinești (31%).

The main reasons why Romanian tourists prefer Mamaia resort are positive previous experiences (42%), leisure options (39%), and well-maintained beaches (35%). Mamaia is both the most popular and the most attractive resort on the Romanian coast for local tourists.

Conducting a detailed analysis, we observe that Mamaia has been frequented over time to a significantly greater extent by individuals with high incomes, over 4000 lei (79%), mature individuals over 55 (76%), and those with children (70% vs. 61% for those without children).

Regarding the level of satisfaction with Romanian coastal resorts, the highest degree of satisfaction is recorded in the evaluation of Mamaia resort (78%), especially among young people aged 25-34 (83%) and those without children (82%). Among those aged 35-55, the satisfaction level with the general vacation experience in Mamaia is 81%, particularly for those with medium incomes (84%).

The next resort in the satisfaction rankings is Eforie Nord (73%), especially for those over 45 (76%), those with children under 14 (78%), and those with medium incomes (79%).

The preferred destinations for Romanian tourists for their next vacation on the Romanian coast are Mamaia (45%), which is particularly favored by young people aged 18-34 (49%) and high-income earners over 4000 lei (52%), followed by Eforie Nord (36%), preferred mainly by those over 45 (40%), those with children (41%), and those with medium incomes (between 2500 and 4000 lei) – 39%, and Costinești (31%), a resort preferred more by men (35%), those aged 18-24 (39%), without children (38%), and rather with medium incomes (36%).

Mamaia is also a resort chosen by those interested in leisure activities due to its diverse options for spending free time (39%). This reason is mentioned to a greater extent by those aged 25-44 (45%), by individuals with medium incomes (56%), as well as high incomes (55%), and rather by men (43% vs. 35% for women).

Another motivation attracting tourists to Mamaia consists of the organized beaches (35%), mentioned to a greater extent by mature individuals over 45 (41%), but also by those with children (42%).

Furthermore, the variety of activities available on the coast in Mamaia leads 29% of those interviewed to choose this destination; those more often seeking new or varied experiences are aged 45-55 (42%), those with children under 14 (37%), and those with incomes over 4000 lei (46%).

The fact that Mamaia is perceived as a modern, premium, and luxurious resort is important for 22% of tourists, especially for high-income earners (28%), those aged 45-55 (27%), and men (26% vs. 19% for women). This motivation is mentioned to a lesser extent by those aged 25-44 (19%), for whom motivations such as previous experience and available entertainment opportunities in Mamaia are much more important.

At a closer look, we observe that the main age group preferring Mamaia as a tourist destination and declaring a higher level of satisfaction with what this resort offers is young people aged 25-34. 24% of them choose Mamaia for its good accommodation conditions, specifically for good organization and hotels positioned close to the beach.
