Israel’s Ramon International Airport to Open in January

On January 22, Israel will inaugurate the Ramon International Airport, located near the Red Sea resorts of Eilat, the Israel Airports Authority announced.
Ramon Airport, whose construction in the Negev desert cost 500 million USD, will begin operations gradually. Initially, domestic flights will be operated, followed by international flights, likely starting in March 2019, said the spokesperson for the Airports Authority, Liza Dvir.
Initially, Ramon will be able to handle over 2 million passengers per year, with plans to expand capacity to 4.5 million passengers.
